Library offers presentation on getting published

One of the best ways to advance your career is through scholarly publishing — yet it may also be one of the hardest ways, especially if you don’t have a lot of time to write.

On Oct. 15, the McGoogan Library will present an inside look at the publishing process from those who know it best — the publishers and editors who decide what does (and doesn’t) get published.

Experts from leading publishing companies will be on hand to offer inside tips and tricks for how and where to get published, and ways to get your papers noticed. Topics also will include open access publishing and author’s rights.

“The library is committed to providing resources to our faculty as well as our students,” said Heather Brown, associate professor and head of collection services, McGoogan Library of Medicine. “We hope this presentation will benefit faculty, staff, and students who are interested in increasing their publication output. We have gathered a group of experts who will be able to answer questions about the publication process, which may be intimidating or frustrating for those who do not publish regularly.”
