Nebraska Medicine to operate UNL Health Center

On Jan. 1, the University Health Center at the University of Nebraska campus in Lincoln will officially become part of Nebraska Medicine. Human Resources is currently working with existing staff at the health center to ensure a smooth transition.

“We look forward to welcoming these colleagues into the organization,” said Nebraska Medicine Interim CEO Rosanna Morris. “Their experience will ensure our brand promise of ‘Serious Medicine. Extraordinary Care’ will be upheld through every patient treated at the University Health Center.”

As part of the partnership with UNL, construction will begin in June on a new facility, which will house the University Health Center as well as UNMC’s College of Nursing Lincoln Division. It will be located along Antelope Valley Parkway, south of Beadle Center. Students, health center staff and other stakeholders will have an opportunity to weigh in on plans for the new space.

“Our goal for the University Health Center is to continue to improve the quality of care, increase access to the health care professionals and offer additional services to the Lincoln campus,” said UNMC Chancellor and Nebraska Medicine Board President Jeffrey P. Gold, M.D. “There also may be educational opportunities for nursing students, created by sharing space with the health center.”

Extended hours of operation and access to expanded pharmacy services began for the University Health Center this semester. As Nebraska Medicine patients, students at UNL also will have access to online medical records through One Chart Patient by summer 2016.
