Global Health Conference Midwest set for February

Health professionals, faculty and students are invited to attend the Global Health Conference Midwest Feb. 5-6, featuring the theme, Bridging Borders at Home and Abroad.

The conference, which began in 2005 with the UNMC International Studies & Programs and the Student Alliance for Global Health, will be held at Creighton University’s Mike and Josie Harper Center at Creighton University. The UNMC College of Nursing’s international programs and global health faculty and the student advisory committee are sponsors of the conference, which features a variety of educational activities.

The purpose of the conference is to connect, collaborate, engage, and learn about pertinent and emerging topics in global health and facilitating interdisciplinary partnerships.

On Feb. 5, the conference will open with a keynote address from Renaisa Anthony, M.D., UNMC deputy director of the Center for Reducing Health Disparities, continue with a research symposium highlighting current research initiatives in community work, interprofessional collaboration, education and data-driven research. There also will be entertainment.

A research symposium also will be held Feb. 5 from 5 to 8 p.m. Students and professionals from all disciplines are encouraged to submit abstracts by Jan. 15 posters or presentations related to the mission and goals of the conference. The symposium will be held at Creighton University’s Harper Center Ballroom.
