New education series offered for new managers

The UNMC Human Resources organizational development team has worked with business services to launch a new, three-part education series for new managers.

The new program grew from the 2015 employee engagement survey and the “You Asked, We Listened” campaign that was launched to strategically put survey feedback into action.

The survey identified leader capability as a critical component of a highly engaged workforce, leading to the new orientation, which is designed to enhance the experience of the leader and their team in the first year.

The program starts on Feb. 24. Human resources has teamed with business services to deliver current, relevant topics for newly promoted managers and managers new to UNMC. New managers will register through eServe.

The program is open to all leaders that would like to attend, even those not new to UNMC or their role. For details of the three part program, see sidebar at right.

If you have questions about the new program, contact Margaret Boyce or Diane Kortus. If you would like to see additional training opportunities that are offered at UNMC visit the Professional Development page.

Can anyone attend this class? Say employees who are seeking new leadership roles, buy may not currently be in one?

It is designed for new managers — but if people see management in their future at UNMC, they are welcome to attend.
