Meadows to speak to mark Black History Month

In recognition of Black History Month, Othello H. Meadows, III, executive director of Seventy Five North Revitalization Corp., will speak on “The Will to Dig Deeper: Driving Community Development Through Education,” at 3:30 p.m. on Feb. 24.

Meadows, a native of Omaha, was previously the executive director of the Omaha Workforce Collaborative, a non-profit housed at the Omaha Chamber of Commerce, designed to restructure the workforce development efforts of the Omaha metropolitan area.

Meadows returned to Omaha before the 2008 election to run a non-partisan voter registration drive that registered more than 10,000 voters in eastern Omaha. Meadows, a lawyer, also is a board member at Creighton Preparatory School, the Jesuit Academy and Nebraska Appleseed. He currently chairs the Omaha Community Foundation’s African-American Unity Fund Grants Committee.

Meadows’ presentation will be held in the Sorrell Center, Room 1005. Dessert and lemonade will be provided.
