Designated shuttle lot to expedite travels

Beginning Nov. 1, employees at UNMC and The Nebraska Medical Center can park in a specially designated lot with exclusive shuttle service to and from the main hospitals, University Tower and Clarkson Tower.

Parking Services has designated Lot 20, located north of Leavenworth Street between 40th and 41st streets, as a campus shuttle lot. Beginning Nov. 1, the Campus Area Transit (C.A.T.) shuttle no longer will service the entire campus. Instead, it will exclusively service motorists in Lot 20 to designated stops near University Tower and Clarkson Tower (see map below for details). Motorists who wish to take advantage of this service must contact Parking Services to request a move to Lot 20, which costs $15.75 per month.

The dedicated lot will create an “express shuttle service,” resulting in shorter waits and quicker transports. The express route will run weekdays during peak hours — 5:15 to 8:30 a.m. and 2:30 to 8:45 p.m. In addition to improved service, the change helps Parking Services better control expenses.

Motorists currently in Lot 20, who do not wish to ride the shuttle, should contact Parking Services to be relocated. Plans also are in place if interest in the shuttle lot exceeds the parking lot’s capacity.

Anyone interested in parking in the designated shuttle lot should e-mail parking@unmc.edu, visit the ESS site on the Intranet or call Parking Services at 559-8580 as soon as possible. Service to existing campus shuttle stops will end at 8:45 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 29.
