Public health leaders speak in Tanzania
Two leaders of UNMC’s College of Public Health presented keynote speeches this week at the First Annual International Conference on Public and Global Health at the University of Dodoma in Tanzania. The conference, Building Sustainability in Public and Global Health, brought together working partners from public and global health.

Ali S. Khan, M.D., M.P.H., dean of the UNMC College of Public Health, presented “JeSuisLeMonde: Prevention and the New Global Health Equity,” at noon yesterday. Dr. Khan spoke on how redefining global health and issues, such as climate change and pandemic diseases, show that we are all interconnected.

Pinaki Panigrahi, M.D., Ph.D., professor, epidemiology and director of the Center for Global Health and Development, presented “Microbiome of the Developing Infant: Prevention of Neonatal Sepsis by Probiotics” at this morning’s premiere session.

Name change at the College of Allied Health Professions
The College of Allied Health Professions division and degree formerly known as Clinical Laboratory Science is now Medical Laboratory Science. CAHP Dean Kyle Meyer, Ph.D., noted that the new name more accurately reflects the role of these health care professionals, and represents the contemporary nomenclature used by the accrediting body, as well as other universities hosting this program of study.
