A delegation from Kenya, featuring physicians and nurses, visited UNMC from April 20-22.

The group was associated with the Naivasha District Hospital. UNMC partners with Naivasha and has previously sent medical teams from pediatrics, internal medicine, OB/GYN, and burn surgery to work with these professionals at their home institution in Kenya.

“It was an honor to host our colleagues from Naivasha,” said Dele Davies, M.D., vice chancellor for academic affairs, who met with the visitors during their tour of the campus. “Our medical education mission is a global one, and UNMC’s partnership with Naivasha has enabled us to collaborate with other committed health care professionals. We were pleased at the opportunity to showcase some of our extraordinary faculty and staff and offer some hands-on simulation training.”

The Omaha Morning Rotary also assisted in bringing this team to Omaha. The visit was sponsored through a UNMC College of Medicine interdepartmental collaboration and grant funding by Rotary International for simulation experience and master training. The visitors will train others in their district in neonatal resuscitation utilizing the “Helping Babies Breathe” method.
