New parking ramp to improve access for Lot 50

To ease traffic congestion along Emile Street, UNMC will add an entrance/exit ramp in the Lot 50 parking garage.

Construction of the new ramp, which will begin next week and run through early August, will improve access to and from the employee/patient parking garage by providing direct access to both Leavenworth (via 45th Street) and Saddle Creek Streets.

As a result of the project, employees who park in Lot 59 (located under Lot 50) will temporarily relocate to adjacent Lot 17, which serves as an overflow lot for students, many of whom are not on campus during the summer. As a result, the lot should provide adequate space for those displaced from Lot 59, said Tina Spencer of Parking Services.

“The temporary inconvenience will pay off as the new ramp alleviates traffic congestion on Emile Street and makes it easier for our employees and patients to access Leavenworth and Saddle Creek,” Spencer said.

The project also will temporarily relocate 20 daily-rate flexible parking stalls to marked sections in the southeast corner of Lot 17.

Daily-rate flexible parking ($3 per day) is a convenient and cost-effective parking option for off-site staff and students who travel to campus, as well as for TravelSmart participants who do not have a parking permit but need to travel to campus in a vehicle.
