Short course in cancer biology begins next week

The Eppley Institute for Research in Cancer and Allied Diseases will hold its annual short course in cancer biology, titled “Immunology & Cancer: From Inflammation to Immunotherapy,” on May 24 and 25.

Joyce Solheim, Ph.D., will host the event, which opens at 8 a.m. on May 24 with a presentation by Michael Lotze, M.D., of the University of Pittsburgh, on “The Big Short: Cancer Economics and Immunity.”

Other presenters during the two-day event will include:

  • Shannon Turley, Ph.D., of Genentech, on “Stromal Regulation of Immunity”;
  • Beatriz Carreno, Ph.D., of the Washington University School of Medicine, on “Passenger Mutations as Targets for Immuno-Oncology”;
  • Keith Knutson, Ph.D., of the Mayo Clinic, on “Cancer Vaccines in the New Era of Immunotherapy.”
