New clinic space unveiled at Girls Inc. open house

Girls Inc. hosted a community open house on May 14 and provided tours of its Katherine Fletcher Center. The new space includes a Nebraska Medicine clinic, gymnasium, media and fitness center.

The Nebraska Medicine clinic will provide services to girls who are 5-18 years of age and will focus on immediate care, physicals and reproductive health and wellness. The new center is part of a $15 million health and wellness expansion and partial renovation of Girls Inc.’s North Omaha facility at 2811 N. 45 St.

“The clinic at Girls Inc. supports Nebraska Medicine’s efforts in helping women and children lead safe and healthy lives in North Omaha,” said Andrea Jones, M.D., medical director and physician contact at Girls Inc. “It will not only serve as a health clinic but also has the potential to facilitate exposure to health care careers and spark the interest of young ladies in the community to seek out educational opportunities at UNMC.”

Dr. Jones and Rachel Rentschler, manager of the Fontenelle Clinic, will continue to support clinical operations at Nebraska Medicine-Fontenelle, allocating a portion of their time to Girls Inc.

Jill Lynch-Sosa, director of student health operations, is posting open positions for an advanced practice provider and medical assistant to help serve Girls Inc. patients. The clinic opening date is estimated to be sometime in July or August.
