SimplyWell program begins second year at UNMC, UMA

Editor’s Note: The following is a letter from UNMC Chancellor Harold M. Maurer, M.D., to eligible SimplyWell participants.

The University of Nebraska Medical Center and University Medical Associates are committed to the overall health and safety of our employees. Promoting good health and enhancing the quality of life of our employees is vital to our success, collaboratively and individually.

As a result, UNMC and UMA have partnered with SimplyWell to create an effective wellness program based upon the health profile of our organizations. You are eligible to participate in this pilot project because you work .5 FTE or more and are enrolled in the university’s Blue Cross/Blue Shield medical insurance plan.

Employees who enrolled in the program last year are encouraged to participate again this year by re-enrolling. If you didn’t participate last year, UNMC and UMA encourage you to consider joining this year. There is no cost to employees to participate and participation does not impact your Blue Cross/Blue Shield well care dollars. I participated last year and will do so again this year.

Each participant in the SimplyWell program will complete an online Health Assessment and participate in a Health Screening. Private, confidential and HIPAA compliant results, identifying personal health risks, are available online. An incentive-based, action plan, encompassing health education, a personalized health tracking system and reminders, further assists you in taking steps toward a healthier lifestyle.

Take the first step toward a healthier lifestyle and enroll in the SimplyWell experience by contacting Shawna Davis at sdavis@nebraskamed.com or 559-6810. Once you have enrolled, you will receive a campus user ID and password to login to SimplyWell’s online application and online health assessment. Health screenings will be scheduled during November (beginning Nov. 1) and are posted on the SimplyWell Web site. All interested participants must enroll prior to Friday, Nov. 19, in order to attend the last scheduled health screening which is Nov. 23.

If you do not have access to a computer or the Internet in your work area, you can access the Web site from a computer in one of the campus clusters:
