Lookin’ at U – Molly Belieu

Molly Belieu

Molly Belieu

Each Thursday, we randomly feature a medical center employee. This week, we learn more about:

  • Name: Molly Belieu
  • Hometown: Omaha
  • No. of years at UNMC: Four years at UNMC, 10 years total in the University of Nebraska system.

Tell us about what you do here at UNMC.

I am the undergraduate student services coordinator for the College of Nursing, Omaha campus. I feel as though I have the best job on campus, because I get to help students realize their dream of becoming a nurse. Through my role, I work with students throughout their time as a nursing student, from being a prospective student all the way through their graduation. I work with students as they navigate the admission process and support them while they are attending UNMC as they pursue their nursing education. I value having the opportunity to work with other faculty, staff, and administrators within the College of Nursing and across the other UNMC colleges to encourage student success.

Innovation is one of our core values. Tell about a time when you witnessed innovation on campus.

In the College of Nursing, we have the unique opportunity to work across five campuses (Omaha, Lincoln, Norfolk, Kearney, and Scottsbluff). With that, I have four colleagues who serve in the same capacity that I do on each campus. As a team, we have worked this year to institute a comprehensive orientation program that is facilitated across all five campuses, connecting all traditional BSN students across the state. We instituted this program to better support the ever-changing needs of our incoming students, and to sufficiently educate and prepare them for the rigors of the nursing curriculum. This has truly been a team effort, educating students across 500 miles.

What is your favorite summer activity?
Spending time with family and friends — grilling and sitting around a fire pit, attending sporting events such as the College World Series and Cardinals baseball games, and visiting Lake McConaughy with my family in western Nebraska.

List three things people may not know about you.

  • I am completing my Ph.D. in educational studies-educational leadership and higher education at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
  • My husband David and I have been married for four years and are expecting our first child in November.
  • I graduated from Creighton University with a B.A. in psychology and communication studies, and from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with an M.A. in educational administration. As a result, I am a lifelong “Jaysker” supporting both of my teams, in blue and red.
