Nuffield Farming Scholars tour UNMC
A group of nine Nuffield Farming Scholars toured UNMC on Monday. The scholars hailed from Australia, Canada, Ireland and New Zealand. The Nuffield program awards individuals with life-changing opportunities that span their personal and professional lives. The goal of the program is to develop agricultural leaders and innovators of the future. Scholarships are awarded to farmers or people who work in an industry associated with agriculture or in a rural community.

Over the past 60 years, the Nuffield Farming Scholarship Trust has provided more than 800 people the chance to travel to expand knowledge and understanding.

The group that toured UNMC learned about the med center’s strong commitment to meeting the needs of rural Nebraska. Prior to coming to UNMC, they spent time in rural Nebraska visiting Columbus and Kearney. After leaving UNMC, they went to the Scoular Company.

The group also toured the UNMC television studio on the third floor of University Tower. There, they met with Nancy Snyderman, M.D., a longtime TV medical reporter for NBC and ABC, who is now providing media training to key UNMC staff members. A 1977 graduate of the UNMC College of Medicine, Dr. Snyderman also is helping her alma mater in procuring more national media placements.
