The Premier Education Banquet, held earlier this month, recognized educational innovation. The first part of the banquet highlighted educational resources on campus and how they collaborate across UNMC and Nebraska Medicine. The second part of the banquet was dedicated to teaching demonstrations, giving attendees the opportunity to experience different teaching techniques from the student’s perspective.

The banquet was a tri-sponsored event between the Office of Faculty Development, Interprofessional Academy of Educators, and the Office of Health Professions Education.

Five awards were given to 10 recipients at the event.

The UNMC Office of Faculty Development presented an award for Visionary Leadership to the University of Nebraska at Kearney, the UNMC College of Allied Health Professions and the UNMC College of Nursing for championing premier education through extraordinary vision and perseverance in creating the Health Science Education Complex at UNK.

University of Nebraska at Kearney Chancellor Douglas Kristensen, J.D., could not attend the event, but he called the Health Science Education Complex one of the highlights of his university career.
“I never cease to be amazed at the professionalism and dedication of UNMC,” he said. “In addition, we are so appreciative of the collaborative efforts of (the Colleges of) Allied Health Professions and Nursing.

“It is a great honor to have our campus recognized,” he said. “We all should be proud of this project and the great opportunities it holds for the future.”
