UNMC D.N.P. degree ranked second in country

The UNMC College of Nursing’s Doctor of Nursing Practice (D.N.P.) degree has been ranked second in the United States. The ranking is part of Value Colleges Top 50 Best Value Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) Programs of 2016, an online guide to the best values in undergraduate and graduate college education.

According to Value Colleges, the Top 50 ranking is designed to give working nurses guidance and direction for choosing a D.N.P. program. It considers regionally-accredited, time-tested, reputable colleges and universities that have proven their value on the job market and in practice.

“We are honored that the program has been ranked highly by Value Colleges,” said Sue Barnason, Ph.D., professor and program director of the doctor of nursing practice program. “Our DNP program prepares nurses to develop their expertise in advance practice roles and as clinical scholars experienced in the translation of research and evidence into practice, measuring patient outcomes and transforming health care systems to ensure quality and safety. Preparation also extends to the being leaders in policy advocacy that will influence national agendas.”

Value Colleges uses the American Association of Colleges of Nursing’s list of 265 D.N.P. programs to rank them in three areas: reputability (based on U.S. News & World Report 2017 Best Grad Schools for Nursing D.N.P.); cost (actual per-credit, in-state tuition); and projected salary outcome (based on pay scale data for mid-career/alumni of institution).
