Legislative candidate Jill Brown tours UNMC

Legislative candidate Jill Brown visited UNMC recently.

Brown, who is running for the District 13 seat, took a tour of UNMC that included a demonstration by Tyler Scherr, Ph.D., at the 3-D printing lab at the McGoogan Library of Medicine.

Brown’s tour also included the MultiTaction iWall, a meeting with several deans, directors and vice chancellors, a review of UNMC’s priorities and outstanding programs and a meeting with Chancellor Jeffrey P. Gold, M.D.

Brown said she was eager to tour UNMC.

“Some of my highest priorities, if elected, include getting people access to the best health care possible, including mental health care,” she said. “UNMC is one of the state’s biggest resources for this and its partnerships and outreach to the greater community is incredible.”

Brown said she feels a family connection to UNMC, as her husband, Jim Sorrell, M.D., is an associate professor in the UNMC Department of Psychiatry, and her father-in-law is Michael Sorrell, M.D., a legendary physician and administrator at UNMC for the past 45 years.
