A UNMC physician, Rowen Zetterman, M.D., will be part of an expert panel that will hold a “politics-free” discussion on how massive changes in health care and insurance will affect local businesses and consumers. The event, which is open to the public, will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 20, at the Omaha Press Club, 1620 Dodge St.

Cost is $17 on or before Oct. 19, and $20 on the day of the event. Reservations can be made by calling 402-345-8008. Lunch is included.

Dr. Zetterman is professor of internal medicine at UNMC and director of faculty mentorship programs and associate vice chancellor for planning. He is dean emeritus, Creighton University School of Medicine, and a former chief of staff for the Nebraska-Western Iowa VA Health Care System.

The discussion, which will include Q-and-A at the end, will cover:

  • What it means when the largest insurers pull out of the marketplace;
  • Understanding rising pharmacy costs;
  • How the delivery of health care is evolving;
  • The challenges facing your doctor; and
  • Creative strategies for financing employee benefits and health care expenditures.

Other panelists include: Moderator – Sean McGuire, founder of E.D. Bellis, a national consulting firm based out of Omaha and host of “America’s Healthcare Challenge” on News Talk 1290 KOIL; Lee Handke, CEO of the Nebraska Health Network, a joint venture accountable care organization formed between Nebraska Medicine and Methodist Health System, and a pharmacist by training; and Jeffrey Bemoras, an actuary, insurance executive and CEO of the Apex Management Group.
