State Sen. Matt Hansen, representing Legislative District 26 in northeast Lincoln, recently toured UNMC.
Sen.Hansen met with a delegation of campus leadership over lunch and received an overview of UNMC priorities and outstanding programs.
He then toured the Nebraska Biocontainment Unit and later met with UNMC faculty Joe Sisson, M.D., and Todd Wyatt, Ph.D., to hear how they are researching the impact of agricultural environments on health in order to hopefully improve safety for Nebraska’s farmers.
Dr. Sisson took Sen. Hansen on a tour of the Durham Research Center.
“I was very glad to get the invitation,” Sen. Hansen said. “It’s always important to get a firsthand look at our state and university institutions in order to get a sense of how they work.
“I’ve been really impressed with all of the staff and faculty that I’ve met today.”
