Truhlsen Eye Institute to host holiday music

The University of Nebraska at Omaha School of Music will be providing holiday music at UNMC’s Truhlsen Eye Institute on Wednesday, Dec. 14, and Dec. 21, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The Truhlsen Eye Institute’s baby grand piano was donated by Gerald Christensen, M.D., professor in the UNMC Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences.

“The live music of the piano is relaxing for most patients and their families while waiting,” Dr. Christensen said. “It also provides the opportunity for those same folks to play the piano and share their talents as well. We love to see the piano used and enjoyed.”

Following a premiere performance on Dec. 7 by UNO students Hanren Zhang and Wenlin Peng, the following students from the UNO Music Department will perform:

Wednesday, Dec. 14: Carol Mueller. Mueller is from Columbus, Neb., and she started playing the piano when she was 7 years old. She has continued her dream by pursuing a degree in music education.

Dec. 21: Hannah Hetrick. Hetrick is from Omaha and has been playing the piano for 14 years. She is pursuing her bachelor of music-music education degree at UNO.

The Truhlsen Eye Institute invites the campus to come and enjoy the holiday cheer.
