  • No. of years at UNMC: Eight years

Tell us a bit about what you do here at UNMC.
I am a clinical dental hygiene instructor with the UNMC College of Dentistry. I work with the distance learning dental hygiene program located in Gering, Neb. I work full time with both junior and senior dental hygiene students in clinics and labs throughout the fall and spring semesters.

Courage is one of UNMC’s brand values. Tell us of a time you witnessed a person or group at UNMC exhibit this value.
I experience courage on a daily basis with UNMC, and not only at the College of Dentistry, but all of the UNMC divisions. Our UNMC junior students use courage when they use their new knowledge to help educate a patient to a better state of well-being, and our UNMC senior students use courage to go out into the health profession world as new graduates. Our UNMC faculty have the courage to talk to our students not about they want to hear, but what they need to hear to encourage them to become outstanding health professionals. Our UNMC staff use courage to keep us all together and organized, and our UNMC patients use courage to come to our colleges, seeking and trusting in us to provide phenomenal health care.

What is your favorite winter activity?
My favorite winter activity would be building a snowman with my 3-year-old daughter. She just loves the snow and always wants to be outside playing in it.

List three things people may not know about you.

  • Mother of two children: 3-year old daughter named Trissa and a 5-month old son named Jaxden.
  • Shark Week is my favorite week of the year! I am fascinated by sharks. I don’t think I would swim with them, but I do like to watch them.
  • I enjoy sketching or working on oil paintings in my spare time.
