For the next 19 months, a live webcam atop The Lied Transplant Center will track construction progress on the Global Center for Advanced Interprofessional Learning.

The high-tech, $118.9 million facility on the southeast corner of 42nd and Emile Streets will house UNMC’s iEXCEL&#8480 (Interprofessional Experiential Center for Enduring Learning) program and expose students to interprofessional clinical simulation training exercises, surgical skills training and realistic environments through virtual and augmented reality, holographic and visualization techniques.

It will, in short, transform health care education.

Bidding on the construction phase will begin shortly and a formal groundbreaking ceremony is planned for April 3. Construction will begin in April with substantial completion expected in September 2018 when UNMC will host the National Modeling & Simulation Coalition Annual Meeting.
