Dr. Dering-Anderson named a fellow of the American Pharmacists Association
Ally Dering-Anderson, Pharm.D., clinical assistant professor of pharmacy practice, has been named a fellow of the American Pharmacists Association (APhA), as a member of the APhA Academy of Pharmacy Practice and Management (APhA-APPM). Fellows must have demonstrated exemplary professional achievements and service to the profession through activities with APhA and other national, state or local professional organizations. Dr. Dering-Anderson and the rest of the 2017 class will be recognized at the APhA Annual Meeting and Exposition in San Francisco, March 24-27.

Dr. Nizar Wehbi named chairman of board of directors for Omaha Home for Boys

Nizar Wehbi, M.D., assistant professor and acting deputy director of the Center for Health Policy at the College of Public Health, has been appointed chairman of the board of directors of the Omaha Home for Boys.

Dr. Wehbi has served as a trustee and board member for the Omaha Home for Boys since 2010. He previously served as vice chair and has served on multiple board committees. He is the American College of Healthcare Executive Regent for Nebraska and Western Iowa, and has served on the Board of Examiners of the Malcolm Baldrige Performance Excellence Program since 2012.

“I’m honored to serve as the chairman for an organization with such a strong history in the Omaha community,” he said. “I see a great future for the Omaha Home for Boys as we continue to adapt to the changing needs of vulnerable youth and shape the lives of young adults.”

College of Nursing student’s essay honored by CUGH
Mark Darby, a family nurse practice student in the College of Nursing in Omaha, had an essay, “Shut Up and Let The Women Speak,” place in the honorable mention category of the Consortium of Universities for Global Health (CUGH) essay contest. Darby will read from his piece at the 2017 CUGH Conference in Washington, D.C., on April 7-9. For more information about the consortium, click here.
