The Office of Health Professions Education is celebrating its first anniversary with an open house on March 22.

Created to align medical education and the clinical learning environment, the Office of Health Professions Education is a bridge between departments and colleges across UNMC and Nebraska Medicine. To date, the office has had interaction and collaboration with approximately 150 colleagues and departments across Clarkson College, UNMC and within Nebraska Medicine.

UNMC, Nebraska Medicine and Clarkson College colleagues are invited to learn more about the office’s anniversary milestones and enjoy cake and coffee during the drop-in reception, which will be held from 4-6 p.m. in Lower Storz.

“And what’s a party without gifts?,” said Kay Grant, program coordinator for OHPE. “Here is a link to the presentation by Anthony Iton, M.D., J.D., during the recent Health Equity Symposium in January. In return, please complete this brief survey.”

(Dr. Iton, senior vice president of Healthy Communities of The California Endowment, California’s largest, private health foundation, spoke on campus in January.)

Attendees can learn about the office’s areas of focus:

  • Clinical quality and education;
  • Interprofessional education and practice;
  • Rural and community development; and
  • Continuing education for health professionals.

Office representatives will be available to talk about campuswide efforts in job shadowing and health equity, as well.
