Activities set for It’s on US Week

April is National Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month, and UNMC is holding “It’s on US” activities from April 3 through April 7 to raise awareness and prevention throughout the university’s campuses.

It’s On US invites everyone to step up and realize that the solution begins with us. It seeks to reframe the conversation surrounding sexual assault in a way that inspires everyone to see it as their responsibility to do something to prevent it. We commit to end sexual assault by recognizing that non-consensual sex is sexual assault, identifying situations in which sexual assault may occur, intervening in situations where consent has not or cannot be given and creating an environment in which sexual assault is unacceptable and survivors are supported.

It’s on US Week is sponsored by the UNMC Title IX Office and EMPOWER, a student-led, inter-professional initiative with the mission of increasing awareness and providing opportunities for future health care professionals to become involved in efforts to minimize domestic and sexual violence in our community and beyond.
