Tickets are available for colleagues to see and hear world-renowned violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter at the Healing Arts Program debut event on Sunday, April 30.
A four-time Grammy Award winner, Mutter will perform two pieces, “Sonata in B Minor for Violin and Piano, P.110,” by Ottorino Respighi, and “Introduction & Rondo Capriccioso, OP 28,” by Camille Saint-Saens. She will be accompanied by Lauma Skride, who was awarded the Beethoven Ring in 2008.
“Anne-Sophie Mutter is an incredible talent who has graced the world’s greatest stages and concert halls for four decades,” said UNMC Chancellor Jeffrey P. Gold, M.D. “We could not be more pleased for her gracious offer to perform at the debut of our Healing Arts Program.”
The evening program, including Mutter’s performance, will begin at 8 p.m. at the Holland Performing Arts Center, 13th and Douglas Streets. Providing remarks will be Dr. Gold; Gail Walling Yanney, M.D., chair of the Healing Arts Committee; Amy Jenson, executive director of the Healing Arts Program; Ken Cowan, M.D., Ph.D., director of the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center; and Daniel J. DeBehnke, M.D., M.B.A., chief executive officer of Nebraska Medicine.
“UNMC and Nebraska Medicine are committed to treating our patients beyond their medical needs, through our Healing Arts Program,” Dr. DeBehnke said. “Arts in health care is a diverse, multi-disciplinary field dedicated to transforming the health care experience by connecting people with the power of arts at key moments in their lives.”
While a campus-wide initiative, the Healing Arts Program will be fully integrated within the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center. Among the arts projects within or near the cancer center are the Chihuly Sanctuary, Leslie’s Healing Garden and the “Search” tower designed by Jun Kaneko.
Each employee can pick up as many as four tickets on a first-come, first-served basis by emailing the events coordinator to reserve tickets. The PR office, where reserved tickets can be picked up, is on the third level of the Business Services Center (4230 Building), just north of 42nd and Leavenworth streets. Visitor parking located just outside the north side of the building.
