Lookin’ at U: Jacqueline Hankins

Each Thursday, we randomly feature a medical center employee. This week, we learn more about:

  • Name: Jacqueline Hankins
  • Hometown: Omaha
  • No. of years at UNMC: Five years

Tell us a bit about what you do here at UNMC.
I am the administrative associate for both the director of community engagement and the education coordinator for academic and student services at the Munroe-Meyer Institute.

“Teamwork” is one of UNMC’s iTEACH values. Tell us of a time you’ve witnessed this value at UNMC.

I consider Beverly Vaughn, of the UNMC Department of Surgery, a trusted teammate. She has worked at UNMC for several years. I met her when I worked in kidney transplant a long time ago. She helped me find my way around UNMC and was always able to answer my questions. Once I returned to UNMC five years ago, I knew she would be available to help me get reacquainted with building locations and policies. Beverly is not only my trusted teammate, but she is my friend.

What is your favorite spring activity?

Planting flowers with my mother.

List three things people may not know about you.

  • I am a longtime fan of Peyton Manning (no matter what team he plays for).
  • One day I would like to be a contestant on “BBQ Pitmasters.”
  • I hate shopping alone.
