Dr. Greeno’s presentation, sponsored by the UNMC Division of General Internal Medicine, will take place at noon in the Durham Research Center Auditorium.

“We believe Dr. Greeno’s insights will be of interest to many faculty and students,” said Rachel Thompson, M.D., one of the event organizers.

Dr. Greeno, a 1979 graduate of UNMC’s College of Medicine, is a nationally recognized expert on hospitalist programs and their clinical and administrative management.

Prior to his position at TeamHealth, he was the chief strategy officer at IPC Healthcare. He founded Cogent Healthcare and served as its chief medical officer for the company’s first 17 years before becoming the company’s first executive vice president of strategy and innovation.

Dr. Greeno was the creator of the hospitalist program management model used by Cogent and originally developed and managed Cogent’s national network of hospitalist physicians that grew to more than 1,100 providers.

Dr. Greeno is a founding member of the Society of Hospital Medicine, which now has more than 15,000 members. He is the president-elect of SHM and serves on the board of directors. He is also the longstanding chairman of public policy, leading SHM’s advocacy and governmental relations efforts.
