The Huntington’s Disease Society of America’s Team Hope Walk — which will help support research and education at UNMC — will be held on Aug. 27 at Lake Zorinsky Park, 156th & F streets.

UNMC is one of 29 national Centers of Excellence designated by the Huntington’s Disease Society of America (HDSA).

“The Team Hope fundraising walks are an important initiative that allow the HDSA to provide desperately needed care and resources for people with Huntington’s disease, and they also help to support the HDSA Centers of Excellence at Nebraska Medicine and around the country,” said Amy Hellman, M.D., director of the HDSA Center of Excellence at Nebraska Medicine and assistant professor, UNMC Department of Neurological Sciences. “Just as importantly, the Team Hope walks are a wonderful opportunity for those of us involved with the HD community to come together and show our support. It’s always an inspiring experience, and I feel very fortunate to work with such a wonderful group.”

Registration and check-in will take place beginning at 8 a.m., with the walk beginning at 9 a.m., or participants can pre-register at the event website, or use this link to join Team Nebraska Medicine.

Water and refreshments will be provided. Registration is $25 or $10 for children, and a free T-shirt will be provided with registration.

The HDSA Center of Excellence at Nebraska Medicine draws patients regionally from western Iowa, South Dakota, Kansas and Wyoming.
