Dr. Mollard appointed to State Women’s Health Advisory Committee

Elizabeth Mollard, Ph.D.

Elizabeth Mollard, Ph.D., assistant professor in the UNMC College of Nursing, was appointed by Gov. Pete Ricketts to the Nebraska Women’s Health Advisory Council in July. The Nebraska Women’s Health Advisory Council was created for the purpose of advising and serving as a resource for the Nebraska Health and Human Services Office of Women’s Health in carrying out its duties as enacted by the Legislature in the Women’s Health Initiative of 2000. Members are governor-appointed for three-year terms.

The Women’s Health Advisory Council consists of 21 members across the state representing different aspects of women’s health care. Current advisory council members from UNMC include Audrey Paulman, M.D., clinical professor in the College of Medicine, and Paraskevi Farazi, Ph.D., assistant professor in the College of Public Health.

Dentistry’s Dr. Wallen named to Leadership Omaha class
Jill Wallen, B.D.S., chairperson and associate professor, UNMC College of Dentistry Department of Growth and Development, is one of 49 members in this year’s class of Leadership Omaha. This marks the 40th session of the Leadership Omaha program. It was established in 1978 by the Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce as a way to develop effective leaders who will strengthen and transform the community. Class members are chosen based on their demonstrated community involvement and career advancement. More than 1,600 people have gone through the program, which includes orientation in August, a retreat in September and then monthly, daylong sessions designed to encourage open dialogue among class members and more than 100 government officials, civil figures and business leaders who contribute as speakers. Class members also complete a small group project and can participate in several optional programs, such as a police ride-along. Graduation will take place in June 2018.

Cornelia Vremes, projects/initiatives manager for Nebraska Medicine, also is a member of this year’s Leadership Omaha class.
