UNMC employees and students are invited on a private tour of historical Omaha sponsored by The Durham Museum. Hop on Ollie the Trolley and take a trip back in time as you visit South Omaha on the “Magic City” History Tour.
Discover the rich history of South Omaha, founded in 1884 as a result of the Union Stockyards. Waves of immigrants flocked to the community to carve out a new life while working in the packinghouses, breweries, smelting plants and other businesses that grew in the area. By 1890, South Omaha was the fastest growing city in the country, earning the nickname, “Magic City,” with a truly unique history.
Who: UNMC students and employees. One guest per person.
When: 5:30 p.m., Aug. 25. The tour lasts about 90 minutes.
Where: The trolley will pick up and drop off in front of the Sorrell Center on 42nd and Emilie Streets.

The tour is offered through the Time Travelers partnership, which provides free museum admission for UNMC employees, students and their immediate families with valid identification. The partnership also offers lectures, workshops and other events on campus.
