Rae Witt, M.D.

Rae Witt, M.D., is a new faculty member at UNMC.

  • Name: Rae (Rohlfsen) Witt, M.D.
  • Hometown: Omaha
  • Title and department at UNMC: Assistant professor, UNMC Department of Internal Medicine

Research/professional interests:

  • Resident/student education
  • Management of alcohol use disorders

How I fell in love with internal medicine:
I helped lead our student-run free health clinic (the Health Resource Center!) during my second year of medical school and absolutely fell in love with primary care from the patient and faculty relationships that were formed over the course of the year. When I entered my first year of clerkships following that year, I then really enjoyed my hospitalist rotations, so internal medicine was a natural fit.

Degrees:

  • M.D., Saint Louis University School of Medicine, St. Louis, Mo.
  • Residency, internal medicine, UNMC

Memberships:

  • American College of Physicians

Three things people may not know about me:

  • I got married last month, so my name just changed to Witt (much easier to write and spell out loud).
  • I absolutely love country music and country line dancing.
  • I enjoy running 50 percent of the time; otherwise, I run the other 50 percent of the time so that I can eat more dessert!

Rae has a mind like a steal trap. She has been a top notch person her entire life. I've known her since she was age 3.
