Joslyn lecture highlights art spanning five centuries

Join Dana Cowen, Ph.D., Joslyn Art Museum’s Associate Curator of European Art, for an illustrated overview of the newest exhibition, Marks of Genius: 100 Extraordinary Drawings from the Minneapolis Institute of Art. The presentation will take place Nov. 7 at noon in the Sorrell Center, Room 2014.

Drawings, watercolors, oil sketches and pastels dating from the Middle Ages to the present day reveal the distinct hand and inspired touch of the most important artists from the past five centuries. Examples from Guercino, Tiepolo, Delacroix, Degas, Kollwitz, Nolde, Hopper and Ruscha, among others, provide extraordinary views into the creative process.

This exhibit will be on view at the Joslyn until Jan. 7.

Please RSVP to the UNMC event coordinator by Nov. 1 if you plan to attend. A minimum of 10 people is required or the lecture will be canceled.

This event is offered through the Passport Partners Program, which provides free museum admission for UNMC employees, students and their immediate families, with valid identification. The partnership also offers lectures, workshops and other events on the medical center campus.
