Making sense of CMMS – – accessing invoices

CMMS, the “Comparative Medicine Management System,” is a new computerized business management system that includes (1) on-line animal ordering and “up to the minute” invoice access via UNMC’s Research Support System (RSS); (2) electronic barcode census; (3) on-line Occupational Health and Safety Program (OHSP) enrollment via RSS and (4) OHSP training via Blackboard. A key component of CMMS is the link between cost center and/or WBS numbers and active Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) protocols.

UNMC Today will provide weekly messages to help you understand the topic and how it impacts your research program. This week’s message — How will I access and view my current comparative medicine invoices?picture disc.

Questions:

1. How will I access and view my current Comparative Medicine invoices?
2. What information is available?
3. Will I still receive a printed “hard copy” of my invoice?

Answers:

1. Go to rss.unmc.edu; provide Lotus Notes username and password; select “Comparative Medicine” and “Billing” from the drop-down menu. You will see a list of your approved IACUC protocols; select a protocol; select the invoice you wish to view (choices will be current and any previously billed based on the date that the bills were sent to SAP); click on “view” to retrieve the invoice.

2. Detailed Animal Order Charges, Per Diem Charges and Specific “Other Charges” tied to cost objects and IACUC Protocols.

3. You will only receive a “hard copy” with your ledger since online viewing will be available.
