International Week events a success
On Monday, UNMC’s annual International Week, with events hosted by the International Student and Graduate Student Associations, kicked off with the Cultural Diversity Fair. The week continued with a “global recognition” event on Tuesday, featuring a map of the world on which students signed their names, recognizing their home country. The week included a “Breaking Barriers” presentation on Colombia, a table tennis & badminton tournament, and a photo competition.
Heath Mello named associate vice president for university affairs
Heath Mello has been named associate vice president for university affairs at the University of Nebraska. He will begin his new role on Dec. 18. As the university’s chief lobbyist, he succeeds Ron Withem, who retired this year after holding the role for 20 years. Mello was a state senator for eight years, served four years as chair of the appropriations committee and has held a number of other public policy and strategic advocacy roles.
