The UNMC College of Nursing will be holding a retirement reception on Friday to honor four educators with more than 60 years of combined educational experience at UNMC.

  • Marlene Cohen, Ph.D., professor and Kenneth E. Morehead Endowed Chair in Nursing, has been at the UNMC College of Nursing since 2008. She will retire on Jan. 3.
  • Julia Houfek, Ph.D., professor, has been at UNMC since 1990. She will retire on Jan. 5.

  • Kathy Tackett-Morris, D.N.P., assistant professor, has been at UNMC since 2007. She will retire on Jan. 1.
  • Mary Filipi, Ph.D., started at the UNMC College of Nursing as an adjunct faculty in 1999 and became assistant professor in 2007. She retired on Nov. 1.

The reception will be held from 10:30 a.m. to noon on Friday in the third-floor atrium of the Center for Nursing Science on the Omaha Campus.

Miller
The campus is invited to attend.

In addition, Kearney Division faculty member Jo Miller, an assistant professor, will retire on Jan. 3. She has been with the UNMC College of Nursing since 1994. A celebration was held for her in Kearney earlier this month.
