Alzheimer’s Association executive to speak on campus

Rachel Conant, senior director of federal affairs for the Alzheimer’s Association, will present “Strengthening the Response to Alzheimer’s through Public Health and Public Policy” at a grand rounds at noon, April 4, in the UNMC College of Public Health, Room 3013.

Conant, who also is senior political director of the Alzheimer’s Impact Movement (AIM), has more than 15 years of legislative, grassroots and political action experience. She directs all federal relations efforts and represents the association before the legislative and executive branches.

At AIM, she is responsible for the strategic management and operation of political activities, including AIM’s political action committee.

She previously served as the associate director of government affairs at the American Nurses Association (ANA), where she advocated ANA’s positions and priorities to members of Congress on a variety of nursing and health care-related issues.

Conant’s professional background also includes her work as the director of grassroots and field operations at the American International Automobile Dealers Association and as the legislative director of grassroots initiatives for the National Association of Health Underwriters. She also served as a staff member for the U.S. House of Representatives’ Committee on Veterans’ Affairs.
