Activities begin today for Public Health Week

A variety of activities has been planned by the College of Public Health Student Association to celebrate National Public Health Week this week.

Adopting the national theme “Healthiest Nation 2030,” the students have planned a photo contest, games, a research conference, grand rounds and a wellness walk.

Activities include:

Public Health Photo Contest
Today through Thursday
Submit your best photos that are relevant to public health. Contest winners will be announced on Friday at 11:30 a.m. at the Maurer Center for Public Health, second floor commons area. Emails will be sent to the winners. Email entries to Alisha Aggarwal.

PHamily PHeud
Today, 3:30-5:30 p.m., Maurer Center for Public Health, second floor commons area
Help UNMC College of Public Health students kick off National Public Health Week with a “Family Feud”-style game day. Participate by forming a team with three to five members. Spots are limited so register soon. Contact Emma Schultz or Alisha Aggarwal with team information.

Wellness Walk Challenge
Tuesday, noon-1 p.m., Maurer Center for Public Health, second floor commons
Meet at 11:50 a.m. Register today with Emma Schultz. Water and granola bars will be provided.

Grand Rounds
Wednesday, noon – 1 p.m., Maurer Center for Public Health, Room 3013
Rachel Conant, senior director of federal affairs for the Alzheimer’s Association, will present “Strengthening the Response to Alzheimer’s through Public Health and Public Policy.”

Student Research Conference
Wednesday, 1-2 p.m., Maurer Center for Public Health, third floor commons
Support College of Public Health students and their research endeavors and learn about current public health research. Snacks and refreshments will be provided.

Parfait Bar Social
Thursday, 3:30-5:30 p.m., Maurer Center for Public Health, second floor commons
Relax and socialize with friends while enjoying a healthy ice cream and yogurt parfait.

Coffee and Donuts
Friday, 10 a.m.-noon, Maurer Center for Public Health, second floor commons.
Vote for the best entries from the Public Health Photo Contest and enjoy coffee and donuts.
