UNMC was recognized as one of “Nebraska’s Safest Companies” at the 35th Annual Celebration of Safety through the National Safety Council Nebraska on May 9.

As one of “Nebraska’s Safest Companies,” UNMC has an exemplary safety record that was better than the national average compared to other academic medical centers and has implemented comprehensive safety programs.
“The Celebration of Safety honors organizations that have achieved excellence in safety this past year, and we are proud to recognize their achievements in providing a safer Nebraska for their employees and their families,” said Eric Koeppe, president/CEO, National Safety Council Nebraska.
“This award is the result of UNMC personnel who make a conscious effort to put safety first and/or take time to report incidents, accidents and near misses in an effort to keep others safe, said John Hauser, safety manager, UNMC Environmental Health and Safety.
Hauser said that this is the ninth year that UNMC has received this award.
