Department of Anesthesiology fellows and residents of the class of 2018 celebrated their graduation on Saturday, June 9, at the Omaha Country Club.
Those in attendance enjoyed a plated dinner and a night of camaraderie with their loved ones and co-workers in an elegant atmosphere. Post-graduation plans of each resident and fellow were announced, and three annually-awarded departmental honors were presented.
The Teacher of the Year award, as voted upon by CA1, CA2 and CA3 residents, was presented to Sheila Ellis, M.D. The Teacher of the Year award, as voted upon by CBY residents, was awarded to Lisa Schlitzkus, MD, of the Department of Surgery. Lastly, the Brad Paulson Award recipient for 2018 is Peter Pellegrino, MD, PhD. The Brad Paulson Award is given to an outstanding medical student pursuing a residency in anesthesiology at UNMC.
