A message from Nebraska Medicine CEO

James Linder, M.D., new CEO of Nebraska Medicine, released the following message to the med center community:

Nebraska Medicine colleagues,

As many of you heard earlier in the week, I’ve been asked by Nebraska Medicine Board of Directors to serve as chief executive officer of the organization. It’s a tremendous honor to lead this organization. As I begin, I would like to share my sincere thanks to all of you. Because of your hard work, we continue to make great strides. I saw that success as a member of the board — our clinical results are strong, our patient satisfaction is high, and we offer treatments here available nowhere else in the state.

I’ve been part of this organization for a long time. As a pathologist, I joined the UNMC faculty in 1985. We work in a health care environment that is constantly changing. These changes require us to forge partnerships with our physicians and other care providers; with providers across the state and region; and with the community at large. These efforts will be a particular focus for me as CEO.

Often when there is a change in leadership, there is concern that plans will change. We have no intention of doing that. I want to emphasize to all of you that Nebraska Medicine’s strategic plan is not changing. The plan was developed by the board and the leadership team. I voted in favor of that plan as a board member and I fully support it as CEO. We plan to execute that plan together and reach the goals we have laid out.

I look forward to meeting more of you in the weeks ahead. You can expect open and transparent communications from me and from the other members of the leadership team as we move ahead with our goals.

Sincerely,

Jim Linder, M.D.
CEO, Nebraska Medicine
