Alumni Weekend features awards, tours, banquet

Reuniting with old friends, learning about campus growth, and celebrating distinguished alumni all will be part of UNMC Alumni Reunion Weekend on Sept. 21-22, when more than 250 alumni and guests will return to Omaha and the UNMC campus.

Alumni from the Colleges of Medicine, Nursing, and Pharmacy, and the Graduate Studies Program will participate, with class years spanning 1953 to 2016.

Activities during Alumni Weekend include:

walking tours of the campus, including the Nebraska Biocontainment Unit, the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center, and the gross anatomy lab;
a campus tour in a classroom;
a narrated Ollie the Trolley tour of Omaha;
the Welcome Back Lunch with the iEXCEL program as the featured topic;
the College of Nursing Distinguished Alumnus Award Lecture;
class parties across Omaha;
the annual Celebration and Awards Banquet, and more.

During the Alumni Celebration and Awards Banquet on Sept. 22, the alumni association and each respective alumni council will recognize 12 award recipients.

They include:

Dennis Ross, M.D., Class of 1973, Distinguished Alumnus Award;
Joseph Anderson, M.D., Class of 1968, Dedication to Student Excellence Award;
Sasha Shillcutt, M.D., Class of 2003, Early Career Achievement Award; and
Lynell Klassen, M.D., Honorary Alumnus Award.

College of Nursing Alumni Council
