Charlotte Evans, new interim chief of police/director of campus security and public safety for UNMC, UNO and Nebraska Medical Center, will speak to members of the med center community from 10:30-11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 3, at the Durham Outpatient Center’s west atrium.

The “Coffee with a Cop” event is open to all faculty, students and staff. The event will allow members of the campus community to stop by for a quick meet-and-greet with Evans, who took over in her interim role in August.

“Although new to the UNMC campus, I’ve had the chance to meet many community members that are committed to public safety and are looking for ways to improve safety and security, not only in their own areas, but across the campus as well,” Evans said. “Realizing that everyone is very busy, I’m hoping that ‘Coffee with a Cop’ will encourage others to take a moment to drop in and meet me and share their thoughts, concerns and suggestions.”

Evans has served as chief of police/director of the UNO Public Safety Department the past three years. Prior to that, she spent 23 years at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Police, where she advanced through the ranks from a police officer to assistant chief of police.
