Open houses on new health benefits set for this week

Two “Benefit Open House” events will be held on the UNMC Omaha campus this week to discuss changes in the university health plan.

There also will be an online presentation on Oct. 17.

On Sept. 25, University of Nebraska President Hank Bounds, Ph.D., announced a number of enhancements beginning in 2019 that will lower costs, expand services and better meet the health care needs of university employees and their families.

This week, employees will have an opportunity to learn more about their new benefits and options.

Representatives in attendance will include UMR (medical insurance), Ameritas (dental insurance), CVS Health (prescriptions), Assurity (life insurance), UNUM (long term disability), and the UNMC Department of Human Resources Benefits Office. Faculty, staff, spouses and dependents can stop by anytime between the times listed.

The open houses will be held:

  • 9 a.m.-noon on Wednesday, Oct. 3, at the University Tower’s Private Dining Rooms A, B and C; and
  • 3-6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 4, at the University Tower’s Private Dining Rooms A, B and C.

Annual NUFlex enrollment is Oct. 29 to Nov. 16. More information on the online session and NUFlex enrollment will be coming soon.

For questions, call the UNMC benefits office at 402-559-4340.
