Dentistry expert to join national Twitter chat

Jill Wallen, B.D.S.

In recognition of Rural Health Day on Thursday, Jill Wallen, B.D.S., chair of the UNMC College of Dentistry’s Department of Growth and Development, will join a panel of national experts for a Twitter chat from 2-3 p.m. on the effects of telehealth in rural health care.

The chat is being hosted by the national Health Resources and Services Administration. People can follow and join the chat on Twitter using the hashtag #TalkTelehealth.

Throughout the chat, panelists will discuss how the use of telehealth can help health care and accessibility in rural areas across the nation.

“We are excited to take part and to represent UNMC as a leader in rural oral health care,” said Dr. Wallen, who will be teaming with the college’s teledentistry coordinator, Tama Trewet-Sloop, to tweet out answers in a timely manner. “We are very pleased to showcase our telehealth program and explain how it can improve access to care for many of our most vulnerable citizens.”
