Registration is open for UNMC’s fourth annual Elevating the Conversation Symposium on Feb. 15, which will explore organizational factors that either hinder or build a culture of wellness and how these factors impact overall well-being.

UNMC faculty, staff and students also are invited to attend TEDxUNO 2019, which will take place Feb. 16 from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Strauss Performing Arts Center on the UNO campus.

This year’s theme of “Resilience” will feature speakers who present compelling stories that can change how we interpret and impact our world and the ways in which humans respond to life’s myriad challenges. This year’s speakers include Sasha Shillcutt, M.D., associate professor and the vice chair of strategy and innovation in the UNMC Department of Anesthesiology.

All UNMC, Nebraska Medicine and UNO faculty and staff are invited to attend the symposium, which runs from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Scott Conference Center, 6450 Pine St., on the UNO campus. Continuing education credit is available.

Guest speaker Nancy Nankivil of the American Medical Association will discuss “The Ecology of Well-being in the Health Professions” and assist local experts in working toward pragmatic and actionable solutions to address factors that affect our individual and organizational well-being.

Sponsored by the Chancellor’s Well-being Coordinating Council, the symposium is open to all UNMC faculty, staff and students, but targeted toward physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, fellows/residents, students, staff and other interested health care professions.
