UNMC, Children’s host Midwest Pediatric Specialty Symposium on March 22
On March 22, UNMC and Children’s Hospital are hosting the third Annual Midwest Pediatric Specialty Symposium, focusing on pediatric eye, ear, nose and throat care.

The symposium, co-directed by UNMC’s Donny Suh, M.D., associate professor, ophthalmology and visual sciences, and Dwight Jones, M.D., chair of otolaryngology-head and neck surgery, includes clinical updates, didactic lectures and case-based clinic discussions relating to pediatric ophthalmology and otolaryngology. Continuing education credits will be available.

The symposium is designed for pediatricians, family and advanced practice providers, nurse practitioners, nurses, residents, and fellows caring for children with eye, ear, nose, or throat complaints.

Rural Radio Forum to celebrate 150th anniversary of the University of Nebraska
“Celebrating 150 Years of the University of Nebraska” is the topic of the next Rural Radio Forum. It will air on Feb. 12 from 3-4 p.m. (CST) on KRVN-AM (880), Lexington, KTIC-AM (840), West Point, and KTMX-FM (104.9), York, and from 2-3 p.m. (MST) on KNEB-AM (960), Scottsbluff, among other stations in the Rural Radio Network.

Guests on the program will include Hank Bounds, Ph.D., president of the University of Nebraska system; chancellors Ronnie Green, Ph.D., of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Jeffrey P. Gold, M.D., of UNMC and the University of Nebraska at Omaha, and Doug Kristensen, J.D., of the University of Nebraska at Kearney, as well as Ron Rosati, Ph.D., of the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture.

The program will be hosted by the Rural Radio Network’s Brandon Benitz and Bryce Doeschot.

Nursing, medicine alumni councils seeking award nominees

The College of Nursing and College of Medicine Alumni Councils are both seeking nominations for alumni awards to be presented during Alumni Reunion Weekend, Oct. 11-12, 2019. Honor years are those ending in the numbers 4 or 9. There is a new, simplified nomination process — nominate a colleague today. Learn more about nursing nominations here. Nursing honor society to host IPE Poster Day during Student IPE Day
Sigma, the nursing honor society, has offered to host a poster presentation opportunity for any interprofessional research being done on any University of Nebraska campus. The students have a mandatory Interprofessional Education (IPE) Day on either Feb. 13 or Feb. 27. The posters will be on display from noon until 1 p.m. on both days.

If you have an interprofessional research poster that would be available on one or both days, please email patricia.hotaling@unmc.edu with the name of your poster presentation and what day(s) you would be able display the poster.
