Preventive and Societal Medicine course on advanced clinical trials

The UNMC Department of Preventive and Societal Medicine will present a 10-part series of video presentations on Advanced Clinical Trials offered at the 2003 Epidemiology and Biostatistics Summer Session, sponsored by the Seattle VA Epidemiologic Research and Information Center (ERIC) and the University of Washington. The series provides instruction on multi-site clinical trial design, management, monitoring and analysis using the Women’s Health Initiative as an example. The 10-part series includes presentations by:


  • Ross Prentice, principal investigator, Women’s Health Initiative, Clinical Coordinating Center, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center; professor of biostatistics, University of Washington.

  • Andrea LaCroix, co-principal investigator, Women’s Health Initiative, Clinical Coordinating Center, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center; professor of epidemiology, University of Washington; scientific investigator, Center for Health Studies, Group Health Cooperative.

  • Garnet Anderson, member of Public Health Sciences Division; co-PI, Women’s Health Initiative, Clinical Coordinating Center; associate head, Gynecologic Cancer Research Program, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center; affiliate associate professor of biostatistics, University of Washington.

Beginning Sept. 13, the series will be presented at noon in the Durham Research Center, Room 1004 on consecutive Tuesdays. There will be no presentation on Sept. 20 and Oct. 4.
