Search for inclusion position expanded

Following a robust and extensive search throughout the University of Nebraska system, UNO and UNMC are expanding the search for both campus’ first assistant vice chancellor for inclusion to a nationwide external search.

The creation of the position, which was announced by Chancellor Jeffrey P. Gold, M.D., last September, was the result of extensive discussions and consultations with key faculty, students, staff and community stakeholders, as well as the leaders of other prominent universities across the nation. This person will report directly to the chief academic officers at each campus.

A search committee led by Aileen Warren, assistant vice chancellor for human resources at UNMC, and Cecil Hicks, assistant vice chancellor for human resources at UNO, was formed in late 2018 to oversee the search process.

“We received a number of well-qualified candidates from across the NU system as part of our internal search; however, the search committee collectively decided to see what other candidates might emerge from a larger pool,” Hicks said.

The external search process will begin immediately.
