Nebraska Fulbright Chapter elects officers

Wael ElRayes, M.B.B.Ch., Ph.D., is the president of the Nebraska Fulbright Chapter.

The Nebraska Fulbright Chapter formed a board of directors and elected officers at its first monthly meeting May 29.

Officers are:

  • President – Wael ElRayes, M.B.B.Ch., Ph.D., instructor in the UNMC College of Public Health.
  • Vice President – Steven Duke, Ph.D., assistant vice president for global strategy and international initiatives, University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL).
  • Secretary – Angela Luedke, program development intern at education abroad, University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO).
  • Treasurer – Dawne Curry, Ph.D., associate professor of history and ethnic studies, UNL.

Members of the board of directors are:

  • Stephanie Call, world language specialist, Nebraska Department of Education.
  • Hannah Gill, community member.
  • Ken Hoppmann, Ph.D., instructor of music, Southeast Community College.
  • Amelia Montes, Ph.D., associate professor of English, UNL.
  • Christopher Kratochvil, M.D., associate vice chancellor for clinical research at UNMC and vice president for research at Nebraska Medicine.
  • Amy Wendling, Ph.D., professor of philosophy, Creighton University.
  • Lucy Morrison, director, honors program, UNO.

For the future, the Nebraska Chapter members hope to connect with communities throughout Nebraska to promote the Fulbright Programs.

“We want to engage in activities that benefit the community, build on the mission of Fulbright and inform people on the message we want to deliver,” Dr. ElRayes said.

The board will now work to develop a vision, mission statement, strategic and communication plans, build a website and generate revenues for the chapter. For more information about the chapter, contact Dr. ElRayes.
